ONE Month Old!

I can hardly believe that a month has flown by! We celebrated Braylor being one month old on Thursday, June 30 (since there is not 31 days in June). This was also the day I found out that I would be working with the Eufaula City Schools for the upcoming school year. We had lots to celebrate, so we went to eat at Old Mexico. This was the first outing since Braylor was born, and we enjoyed it so much!
A few things about Braylor that I don't want to forget:

• He drinks 4oz. of milk every 2 hours.  That means I breastfed every two hours for the first part of the month. It took him 30-40 minutes to eat- 15-20 minutes on each breast! Needless to say, I was about to pull my hair out! By the time he finished, I only had an hour and twenty minutes before feeding again! This barely left me enough time to take a shower and get dressed! After going to his 2 week checkup, we learned that he was still weighing in at 8.6 lbs. He had not gained, but he had not lost, either. So, I started supplementing with formula. I would feed him off my breast, then give him a bottle with an ounce of formula. Shortly after, I began pumping. Even though I pumped every two hours, I had my milk in 10 minutes...MUCH better than being tied down for 40 minutes! This showed me that I was producing an ounce of milk, where he was needing two ounces at each feeding. The two ounces didn't last long, so we bumped it up to three, then four. He is a growing boy!
• He loves to play on his jungle gym and listen to music!
• He only wakes up 2 or 3 times during the night..usually around 12 or 1 then again at 3 or 4.  
• We make SURE to keep him awake after 5:30 or 6 p.m. so he will sleep at night.
• He doesn't like taking a bath! We just introduced the whale tub as his 1 month was approaching.
• His poop looks just like mustard! He grunts and smiles and it takes him 10 minutes to finish! :)
• On June 28th, he weighed 9.9lbs. Big Boy!

I never thought I could love something or someone so much! He has my heart!

Father's Day 2011 was a special one for us. Not only was this Brady's very first Father's Day, it was also the day we dedicated our precious son to the Lord. We are willing to accept His will for Braylor's life, no matter what that may be, and we will strive to raise him in the ways of the Lord. We will live our lives so that Braylor can see a Christ-like example, and we hope to do all that we can to lead him to his own personal relationship with our Lord.

Braylor had lots of family and friends there for support. They filled up two pews! He was given a certificate and a Bible during the ceremony. There was a slideshow with several of his newborn pictures and the following prayer tht truly depicts how we feel:

Lord I'm askin for Your help
To raise my newborn son,
Give me strength and guide me
Cause I know that You're the one.

That sent this angel to me
A little heaven here on earth,
For now I know my place in life...
I'm no longer who comes first.

Once I had no answer
As to why it is I'm here,
But when I looked into my baby's eyes....
It all became so clear.

This little bit of heaven
Owns me, heart and soul
And it's You that sent him to me
A greater love I'll never know.

So take these rugged hands of mine
Help me to understand,
Just what it is I need to do
To raise this little man.

Help me build a boy that knows
It's You that holds the key,
To all that heaven holds for us
Show him Your love through me. 

Afterwards, we all went to Michelle's Restaurant in Georgetown, GA to eat. It was very crowded and HOT, and we didn't all get to sit together. However, we just enjoyed the overwhelming support that we felt from our family and friends who came. We didn't get pictures with my family, but we managed to get some with Brady's once we got back to the house.

 Brady had a wonderful day. Braylor and Gus gave him an Alabama Football that had the autograph of every member of the 2009 National Championship team and Coach Nick Saban. They wanted to show him how much they appreciate him being such a good daddy ;)
