Braylor's Nursery

We have been working hard to get Braylor's room ready. Since our house has only 2 bedrooms, we turned our guest bedroom into Braylor's room. The color was already an olive green that we really liked, and we said from the start that we were going to keep it that color and just add pink stripes if it was a girl! :) Needless to say, we didn't have to do that. However, once we started looking at nursery bedding, it was hard to find something to match the green. Most everything was "baby blue." So, we decided to use somewhat of a "jungle" theme...but it is not too "jungly." We borrowed the crib from Brady's cousin McKenzie and it was used by her son, J.D., and our nephew, Cole, as well. It is neat to have something that has been used by family.

 Probably my favorite thing in his room. This hangs on his door and will be on the door at the hospital. It was made by Jenna Beckerich at the Polka Dot Pavilion in Geneva. She is wonderful! Check out her work!

 Bassinet...we borrowed this from Becky. Her sweet Mckenzie used it when she was a baby. This is in our room and will be on my side of the bed for Braylor to sleep in his first few weeks/months home.

Showers of Blessings....

We were so blessed to be given so many baby showers which provided wonderful gifts for our precious little one. Our first shower was given to us at Parkview Christian School where I teach on Monday, March 14, 2011. Becky Peeples planned it all. She is so creative!

She made several cute things including a diaper cake, candle favors (which were probably my favorite), and had the cutest cake made by Tisa. Pictures below...

Our second shower was given to us on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at Banks Baptist Church. My sister-in-law took pictures and I will post them as soon as I get them.

The next shower was given to us on Sunday, April 3, 2011, by Brady's family and friends. It was held at the beautiful home of Mrs. Shirley Drosyk in Troy. There were many hostesses including Eleanor Andress, Tonya Ray, Janice Brady, Patsy Goodson, Lori Brady, Erica Garrott, Heather Dunn, Delany Hohlbaugh, Shirley Drosyk, Darlene Stephens, and Dixie Shehane. It was so nice, and we were overwhelmed with all we received!

Gifts Galore!

 How generous is God.....

Parkview Baptist Church hosted a shower for us on Sunday, April 17, 2011. It was held in the nursery of the church. We thought it was so sweet and welcoming of the church to do this for us. I enjoyed the fellowship with the church ladies, and I was glad that my mother-in-law was able to join me.

Our last shower was given to us on Sunday, May 1, 2011 at the home of Hope Laudicina in Clayton. The hostesses were Heidi Scroggins, Sonya Williams, Marla Turner, Amy Smith, Betty Williams, and Hope Laudicina. It was very nice, and I was so glad to see friends and family that I had not seen in awhile.

Thanks to all who have been so generous to us as we prepare for the arrival of our precious baby boy. It is greatly appreciated!

The Growing Begins..

I started showing VERY soon! At only 7 weeks pregnant, it was time for new pants!

I was so blessed not to be sick. I only vomited twice, and that was because of a virus I believe. However, to not be sick, I would have to keep my belly full of salty snacks. Some of my favorites were Whales, 100 calorie packs, and Cheez-its. I would nibble on these everytime I started to feel nauseated. I would also have to eat a hearty breakfast. Brady was so good to fix me bacon and cheese biscuits, or when he would go into work early, I would eat grits. The cereal bars that I had once eaten no longer cut it!

I think the most anxious we have ever been in our lives was during the wait to find out if Baby Dunn was a boy or girl. The days dragged by, and we had asked to find out as part of an early Christmas present. The doctor approved that we could find out on Monday, December 13, 2010, only one day before being 16 weeks pregnant. Most people find out when they are 18 to 20 weeks pregnant, but that would be after Christmas and we just HAD to go ahead and know! We then had to pray that Baby Dunn would cooperate. I left work and drank a whole bottle of Mountain Dew during the drive from Eufaula to Dothan to give an extra caffeine boost. My mother and mother-in-law joined us to find out, but they let us go in first to experience this once in a lifetime surprise together. After all of one minute (Baby was NOT shy), we called them back in to share the surprise......

IT'S A BOY!!!

Yes, Braylor was definitely NOT shy nor modest! The little stinker slept the whole time even though I drank all that caffeine, but thankfully he was in good positions for us to get several pictures.

The next day, I was 16 weeks pregnant and showing a lot!

We celebrated Christmas and had so much fun sharing the news with family. Everyone was so excited that it was a boy! This will be the first boy in my family and he will join his cousin, Cole, on Brady's side. Although all we asked and prayed for was a healthy baby, God knew what we truly wanted. We wanted a boy all along and he gave that to us. I am so glad that I can give Brady a son and my Daddy a son that he never had.

37 weeks

37 weeks 4 days. This was taken before going to eat with Stephanie and Jeffrey at Old Mexico. We had fun as always just enjoying the simple things in life: eating, listening to Jeffrey play the guitar and singing along, and sitting on the deck with a fire in the fire pit. One last Hoorah before Braylor arrives!

This was taken after eating at Mikata's for Stephanie's 19th birthday. I am about to POP! We then watched the American Idol Finale and Scotty won. NanNaw was so proud! We were hoping Braylor would be here to celebrate with us, but he is taking his sweet time!
